Melissa McGibbon is an award-winning adventure travel journalist. She is the destinations editor at Powder Magazine and the chair of the Society of American Travel Writers Editors Council. She is also a member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association. She is a contributing editor at Hearst Publications and the senior editor at Outdoor Sports Guide Magazine. Her work appears in Travel + Leisure, The Points Guy, Outside Magazine, Lonely Planet, SKI Magazine, Powder Magazine, Backpacker Magazine, Matador Network, The Salt Lake Tribune, Scuba Diving Magazine, and more.

Some of her favorite travel accomplishments include circumnavigating the globe by ship, meeting with Fidel Castro in Havana, BASE jumping, flying over an erupting volcano and diving the Silfra Fissure in Iceland, downhill mountain biking in Peru, and skiing in Antarctica. 

She is usually skiing, biking, climbing, practicing yoga, or diving—and is always in pursuit of adventure, travel, or some daring combination of the two.
